# Semiconductor Names Getting Crushed
The SOXX dropped over 6% today. This is the worst single-day move for chip stocks since the April 2025 correction.
$NVDA down 5.8%. $AMD down 7.2%. $AVGO down 6.1%. $QCOM down 4.9%.
The trigger was the May jobs report (172K vs 80K expected), which sent yields screaming higher and crushed duration-sensitive growth names. Semiconductors, as the highest-beta segment of tech, took the worst of it.
Volume was 2.3x the 20-day average across the sector. This was institutional selling, not retail panic.
The question now: is this a reset or the start of something larger?
SOXX is approaching its 200-day moving average. That level has held as support three times in the past year. A bounce there would be constructive. A break below opens the door to a 15-20% correction from the highs.
Chip stocks do not stay down forever, but they can stay down long enough to shake out weak hands.
